New Network Officer Announced

Sandra Mikush
As many of you know, I have been serving as Interim Executive Director of the Babcock Foundation since May 1, and I expect to remain in that position until at least the end of the year when a permanent Executive Director is in place. I appreciate the support and patience of our partners as my time has been diverted from relationships in the field and particularly in Appalachia.

I’m pleased to announce that the Foundation board approved a new Network Officer position at their meeting last month, and I’m especially excited to share the news that Lora Smith will become the Network Officer for the Appalachia region, effective August 1. As a native of eastern Kentucky, Lora brings deep knowledge of Appalachia and a commitment to our strategy for advancing a just economic transition in the region. In her role as Communications Officer since 2011, Lora has become familiar with MRBF’s grantee and funder partners and has a deep understanding of our program strategies. Her background and skills promise a smooth transition.

We plan to begin recruiting a new Communications Officer in the next couple of weeks and will share that job announcement on our blog.

I am grateful for the commitment of the Babcock Foundation board and staff during our leadership transition. As always, we thank you for being partners in our work.
