Babcock Foundation trustee Dr. Micah Gilmer has agreed to serve as Interim CEO for the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. Gilmer is Cofounder and Senior Partner of Frontline Solutions, a Black-owned consulting firm dedicated to making the world more just for all. In that role, Gilmer leads the consulting team, supports staff in their work with clients, and works closely with senior leaders at partner organizations as a coach and thought partner.
The Board of Directors chose Gilmer to helm the Foundation as it engages in a search for a permanent CEO. He is taking a leave of absence from the board to serve as interim CEO. His service on the board affords him familiarity with the Foundation's work, vision and values. His experience working with nonprofit and philanthropic institutions around strategy and planning will be invaluable as the Foundation works to increase its grantmaking to strengthen our grantee partners through the pandemic and beyond. His expertise in creating and leading equitable organizational cultures will help the Foundation deepen its commitments to racial equity and power building.
Gilmer has also served as an adjunct professor in UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Public Policy. He holds a PhD and a Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Arts in African and Afro-American Studies and Religious Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill.
